There is a narrow waterway in the Adirondacks where I fish for brook trout. I have seen two Great Blue Herons that fish this 3-mile marshy passage. Upon seeing me, one takes to flight immediately. The other heron, older and wiser, is an opportunist that holds his crouched position and allows my boat to pass. He has caught beautiful brook trout that have rushed to the shallows after the disturbing wake of my boat.
