Timberdoodle
Finding an Adirondack patch of ferns, I thought it an ideal setting for my next painting. Fifty yards later, out of this same canopy, the familiar flight and whistle of a woodcock split the autumn ferns. The soft soil of fern clusters provide earthworms for woodcock and provided me with the idea for my painting.
I enjoyed exploring the repetitive design and coloration that appears in both the ferns and the woodcock.
